Net → Gross: what should I charge?

“I want €X net per hour.” This tool tells you the RAL or P.IVA daily rate you need to ask for. Works backwards from what you want to keep.

Assumptions

What you need to ask for

As employee (RAL)

€38,283
Required RAL
Net you'd actually get: €26,400/yr

As P.IVA

€37,175/yr
Required annual revenue
Daily rate to quote: €169Hourly rate to quote: €21
Net you'd actually get: €26,400/yr

Combines the RAL and P.IVA calculators above — same simplifications apply. Use as a starting point, not a contract number.

How to use this

You know what you want to take home. This tool works backwards to tell you what gross salary (RAL) or P.IVA daily rate you need to negotiate. It runs both calculations side by side so you can compare:

  • As an employee — the RAL your employer needs to offer. Uses the same IRPEF/INPS/detrazioni logic as the RAL calculator.
  • As a freelancer (P.IVA) — the annual revenue, daily rate, and hourly rate you need to invoice. Uses the same forfettario/ordinario logic as the P.IVA calculator.

A word about daily rates

The daily rate is simply your required annual revenue divided by working days. But remember: as a freelancer you also need to cover holidays, sick days, bench time between projects, equipment, and accounting fees. The rate this calculator shows is the minimum — most freelancers add a 15–30% buffer on top.
